Call for Challenges to Advance AI-Driven Healthcare Solutions

The AISYM4MED project has officially launched its Call for Challenges, inviting stakeholders across the European healthcare and innovation ecosystem to propose real-world problems that can be addressed through artificial intelligence (AI) and secure health data access.

AISYM4MED provides a cutting-edge infrastructure that connects health data providers and AI developers, enabling experimentation and development of AI solutions in a secure, privacy-preserving, and legally compliant environment. By integrating federated technologies, the platform allows collaboration across institutions without requiring sensitive data to be transferred, ensuring both innovation and data sovereignty.

Addressing Real-World Healthcare Needs

This call aims to identify high-impact challenges where better use of health data and AI can improve clinical outcomes, research capabilities, and healthcare system performance. Submissions are encouraged from a wide range of domains, including:

  • Clinical practice and patient care (e.g. early disease detection, personalised treatment)
  • Health research and evidence generation (e.g. cross-border studies, rare disease research)
  • Healthcare management and system efficiency (e.g. resource allocation, patient flow optimisation)
  • Data-driven challenges (e.g. interoperability, data access constraints)
  • Trustworthy and cross-border data use (e.g. GDPR-compliant analytics, bias mitigation)

Particular attention is given to challenges where data access, integration, or regulatory constraints currently limit progress, and where AI can unlock meaningful insights.

Who Can Participate

The call is open to organisations and individual professionals, including healthcare providers, research institutions, companies, startups, and data hubs. Importantly, applicants are not required to have expertise in AI or data science, fostering broad participation across disciplines.

Opportunities for Selected Participants

Selected challenge owners will benefit from:

  • Technical feasibility assessments and solution insights
  • Prototype concepts and implementation results
  • Participation in the AISYM4MED Technical Hackathon and final project event
  • Visibility within the European AI and healthcare landscape
  • Opportunities to collaborate with AI and synthetic data experts

Challenges may be addressed during the Technical Hackathon (2–3 July 2026) or analysed within the project for further development and validation.
